Alexandria Cazares-Perez is a criminal defense attorney licensed to practice in the State of Texas with extensive experience representing clients in state and federal criminal cases. She grew up in both the United States and Mexico and is a native bilingual speaker of Spanish and English. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Political Science from St. Mary’s University and later received her Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law.
She has extensive experience in criminal defense and has represented individuals accused of a wide variety of serious and complex offenses in state and federal courts. Her practice includes representation in cases involving drug trafficking, conspiracy, firearms offenses, violent crimes, financial crimes, sexual offenses, crimes against minors and other high-stakes federal matters. She has handled complex cases involving crimes against minors and understands the sensitivity, seriousness and preparation that this type of accusation requires.
She has also represented clients who have been extradited from other countries to face federal criminal charges in the United States. Her experience handling matters related to international extraditions and complex federal litigation has drawn the attention of attorneys throughout Texas and in other countries.
Alexandria is known for being a strong and strategic advocate for her clients, while at the same time being accessible, compassionate and approachable. Alyssa Padilla earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology, with a concentration in Gender and Crime, from Texas A&M University in 2019, and later received her Juris Doctor from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in 2022. Her academic background has shaped her compassionate, client-centered approach and her commitment to understanding the unique circumstances behind each case.
After graduating from law school, Alyssa began her legal career at the Federal Public Defender’s Office for the Southern District of Texas, where she represented individuals facing serious federal charges. She worked on cases involving accusations of child pornography, drug trafficking, illegal reentry, human trafficking and probation violations. This experience strengthened her litigation skills and deepened her dedication to protecting the constitutional rights of every client she represents.
Later, Alyssa continued her public interest work as a family law attorney at Legal Aid DC, where she defended vulnerable individuals and families in Washington, D.C. She handled matters related to domestic violence, custody disputes and divorces, gaining valuable insight into the relationship between family law and the criminal justice system. Recognized for her determination and courage in the courtroom, she took multiple cases to trial and completed more than five trials in a single year.
Licensed to practice in Texas and Washington, D.C., Alyssa has represented clients in both federal and state courts. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, she is a proud native Spanish speaker who embraces her Cuban heritage.
